A winter install north of Spokane: gray lap and board-and-batten on a custom single-level, with a vaulted rear porch on timber posts sized for sunset views over the pines. Cold-weather scheduling kept the build on track through snow on the ground.

How We Built It
SmartSide is one of the few sidings we will hang through a North Spokane winter, and this project shows why: engineered wood can be installed in freezing temperatures as long as gapping and fastening follow the spec sheet, so the schedule held through snow on the ground. The vaulted porch beams sit on steel standoff bases that keep end grain off the concrete, and the crew heated and staged each day's material in an enclosed trailer so nothing went on the wall wet.
